Madda Walabu University Hosted a Public Seminar on “Landslide Risk and Mitigation: Examples from Italy and East Africa” by Professor Roberto Valentino from Parma University, Italy. This public seminar is part of strengthening the collaboration and Internationalization of Madda Walabu University in this global world.

In this remarkable occasion Dr. Teshome Sirak from president office has made an opening speech as this public seminar enhances our university researchers’ capacity in conducting high level research and to get international experiences. On the top of this, he underlined the university commitment to assist the academic staff engagement in teaching, research and need based community services by preparing conducive environment as much as possible.

Professor Roberto has shared his teaching and research experiences as well as being Director of University Centre for International Cooperation. He has also presented a well-organized paper on the approaches, methods and the models to be used regarding Landslide Risk and Mitigation as per the issued to be addressed through the research work. He provided practical examples from Italy, African countries including Ethiopia to make his presentation vivid and long lasting.

Lastly, a lot of questions and concerns were raised from participates and the presenter (Prof. Roberto) provided responses and reflection on the points asked by the participants. And future direction was suggested to build strong bond between the two universities.
