A delegation led by the State Minister of General Education at the FDRE Ministry of Education, Mrs. Ayelech Eshete, and the Head of the Oromia Regional Education Bureau, Dr. Tola Beriso, conducted a visit to inspect the ongoing construction and overall transformation works being carried out at Madda Walabu University’s main campus and at the Goba College of Health and Medical Sciences.
During the visit, the delegation toured and observed various ongoing development and reform activities at the university, including internal campus improvements, corridor development in front of the university, renovation of different offices and meeting halls, the nearly completed multifunctional digital library, and health-sector infrastructure projects under construction in Goba. Likewise, the university president, Dr. Berhanemeskel Tena, provided a detailed explanation of the university’s ongoing work and achievements in teaching and learning, research activities, community service, and efforts to connect the university with the local community as well as stakeholders at regional, national, and international levels.
Following the visit, the delegation expressed their appreciation in their concluding remarks for the work being done, particularly highlighting the tangible changes achieved within a short period under the leadership of the new university president.
In particular, the Head of the Oromia Education Bureau, Dr. Tola Beriso, stated that today’s Madda Walabu University is significantly improved and transformed compared to what he observed during his visit eight months ago. He noted that this progress is the result of coordinated teamwork and effective leadership collaboration.
Similarly, State Minister of Education Mrs. Ayelech Eshete expressed admiration for the ongoing transformation efforts, emphasizing that Madda Walabu University serves as a good example of how educational institutions can bring meaningful reform to the education sector by working in coordination with their structures and stakeholders at different levels. She added that if these efforts continue with strengthened commitment, the university can reach even greater heights in a short period of time. She also commended the comprehensive transformation work already completed and the visible progress underway.
